At 36 inches the face in the centre is close to life size, so the eyes meet a visitor at about eye level when the piece hangs at 57 inches.
Engraved areas sit slightly below the wood, so the portrait and the small crosses catch light as the piece turns. The cut edge is stained a deep brown-black.
